One of our recent patient Julia* from Australia had been trying to conceive for over 2 years. Unfortunately, she had been unsuccessful in conceiving. Julia decided not to go down the IVF route and explore her options further, including alternative medicine.

Along with the herbal supplement programme we recommended some dietary changes along with some lifestyle changes to help get her body prepared for these natural supplements.
In Chinese Medicine, it is believed that when we consume on day to day basis will alter our body temperature. For improving fertility we always recommend eating warming foods, the philosophy behind this is that a warming diet builds the body’s qi and blood and gives your body strength to conceive.
For example, it is good to consume vegetables but refrain from eating cold salads instead we recommend choosing cooking your vegetables. In line with the temperature of the food you consume, we also recommend staying away from ice creams or cold drinks especially during your period. You should also avoid crabs and lobsters during your period.
Tea and coffee should also be avoided if you are trying to conceive, instead, we recommend having tea made from Ginseng slices – Ginseng slices can be purchased here.
It is also best to avoid alcohol, however, red wine is small amount is considered acceptable but better avoided to see the best results.
We also recommended consuming red meat frequently, foods that are dark, red like blood are blood-building foods and are good for fertility.
Try to exercise regularly, we encourage more gentle exercise such as yoga and pilates.
During the diagnosis for Julia, we found that her body was prone to stress very easily because of this we recommended working fewer hours to promote a better work-life balance, allowing your body to rest.
A rested body is better prepared for the herbal supplement programme, it improves your body’s fertility and increases your chances of conceiving.
