Laura had been experiencing irregular period cycle and over the last 6 to 7 months she only had her period twice. She also experienced extreme fatigue, headaches and cramps before the start of her period. Her test for menopause and fertility showed that her FSH levels were extremely high and detected no ovulation.

The aim of the treatment
Along with acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine we recommended some dietary changes along with some lifestyle changes to help get her body prepared.
In Chinese Medicine, it is believed that when we consume on day to day basis will alter our body temperature. To improve fertility we always recommend eating warming foods, the philosophy behind this is that a warming diet builds the body’s qi and blood and gives your body strength to conceive.
For example, it is good to consume vegetables but refrain from eating cold salads instead we recommend choosing cooking your vegetables. In line with the temperature of the food you consume. We also recommend eating a variety of fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Eating fish especially oily fish, at least twice a week ( about 8 ounces/ week). Limit intake of saturated fats, oils and sugars.
Tea and coffee should also be avoided if you are trying to conceive, instead, we recommend having tea made from Ginseng slices – Ginseng slices can be purchased here.
It is also best to avoid alcohol, however, red wine is small amount is considered acceptable but better avoided to see the best results.
We also recommended consuming red meat frequently, foods that are dark, red like blood are blood-building foods and are good for fertility.
Try to exercise regularly, we encourage more gentle exercise such as foam rolling and dynamic stretching.
When you feel like your body needs a rest, rest – it is easy to fall into the trap of talking about resting instead of actually resting. Relaxation exercises such as qi gong, tai chi, meditation along with yoga and pilates foster yin and help to recharge and rebuild your body’s energy,
A rested body is better prepared for the herbal supplement programme, go to bed early and have a good nights sleep. If you are always on the go schedule some time each day for you to rest. A relaxed body on a supplement programme increases your chances of conceiving.
